Program Aide Job Opening

Turning Point, a program offering services to victims of domestic violence, has openings for the position of Program Aide at our Delaware or Marion shelter. 

Program Aides work within our shelters to do what it takes to meet the needs of our clients.  The following description defines areas for which an individual has primary responsibility. This list is not intended to limit the scope of the job in any way.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Providing emotional support to victims of domestic violence and their children.

  • Answering crisis calls, determine eligibility for admission, arrange for shelter admission, and complete the intake process.

  • Respond to resident needs within the shelter, consistently implement house rules, and respond to other emergency situations.

  • Document case activity in each resident’s and non-resident’s file and maintain other necessary records.

  • Assist in clerical and/or house managerial duties as assigned.

  • Supervise volunteers as arranged by the Program Director

  • Other appropriate duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of community resources and their relationship to clients' needs, and the ability to interact effectively with these records.

  • Knowledge of listening skills with the ability to interact effectively with these resources.

  • Understand and abide by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network’s Promising Practices, Standards for Domestic Violence Programs

  • Understand and provide Trauma Informed Care as defined by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network’s Trauma-Informed Care, Best Practices and Protocols for Ohio’s Domestic Violence Programs. 

  • Ability to communicate with people of varying social, economic, religious, and racial backgrounds through both written and verbal means.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to enforce house rules consistently and fairly.

  • Ability to document case records and service statistics accurately and completely.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

  • Ability to interact rationally and with sound judgement in a crisis situation.

Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or GED required.

  • Valid driver’s license and insurance preferred.

  • Job will require completion of BCI background check.

Work Schedule:

  • Part time as assigned.  Availability to work shifts including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Most shifts will be during third shift.

  • Average of 24 hours per week.

COVID-19 Precautions:

  • Sanitizing, disinfecting, or cleaning procedures in place.

  • Other guidelines in place to ensure safety of residents and staff.

Starting pay rate is $15.00/hour.
