Volunteer Coordinator

Turning Point, a program offering services to victims of domestic violence, is seeking the position of Volunteer Coordinator.
 

It is the job of every Turning Point employee to do whatever it takes to meet the needs of our clients. This job description defines areas for which an individual has primary responsibility.  This list is not intended to limit the scope of duties in any way.  We work together as a team to meet the needs of our clients.
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Work with the Development Director to assist with fundraising marketing and communication initiatives.

  • Assist Development Director with the production of donor-facing communications and marketing materials: thank you letters, direct mail appeals, press releases, newsletters, event invites and social media materials to gain awareness and support.

  • Recruit potential volunteers, maintain records of volunteer recruitment, and conduct orientations regarding the mission and objectives of Turning Point and its volunteer program. 

  • Update volunteer manual, provide training to TP volunteers, supervise all volunteers and their assigned activities, and coordinate with staff to schedule volunteer opportunities.

  • Obtain application, emergency medical form and confidentiality statements for each volunteer. See that background checks are completed and maintain and file all related records and logs.

  • Assist with special events designed to strengthen relationships with existing and prospective donors, increase community awareness and bolster staff and community support.

  • Attend community partner events as a representative of Turning Point, host a table handing out agency information, giveaways, and collecting donations.

  • Maintain a data base of donors and send out pledge reminders in a timely manner.

  • Assist with implementation and maintaining a Development U-drive, organizing the internal database of past and current projects, events, photos, grants, proposals, thank you templates, etc.

Skills Needed:

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to maintain confidential records and internal database. Knowledge of domestic violence issues preferred. (Familiar working with CRM software like e-tapestry, salesforce, etc. a plus)

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, ability to effectively communicate with donors, media partners, staff, volunteers, and community leaders/partners.

  • Understand and abide by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network’s Promising Practices, Standards for Domestic Violence Programs

  • Understand and provide Trauma Informed Care as defined by the Ohio Domestic Violence Network’s Trauma-Informed Care, Best Practices and Protocols for Ohio’s Domestic Violence Programs.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate with people of varying social, economic, religious, and racial backgrounds through both written and verbal means.

  • Strong social media marketing skills. Comfortable working in Canva and other design software a plus. Familiarity with fundraising methods and procedures.

  • Ability to interact effectively in a team approach with other staff members, donors, and volunteers. Creative spirit, ability to problem solve and a general can-do attitude.

 

This is a full-time position with benefits.  Salary range is commensurate with experience.

 

Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in fundraising and/or administrative support preferred.
